RESULTS NRC'S
Results from the Northern Regional Championships 2008
Large Surf up to 4 metres was the main feature at the NRC's in Mount Maunganui over the weekend. All competition being cancelled on the Saturday due to the conditions and for the remainder of competition the massive surf making placings very much a lottery, WSLSC paid with large gear damage costs.
Madison Brown having good placings of fourth in her beach arena competitions of flags and beach sprint. With both Ali Burns and Leah Tulloch making the final in the swim.
The Men's Surf Boat crew, however, are looking in fine form coming up to Nationals with strong competition and big surf conditions over the weekend.
The Master's Boat Crew of Knocki Hurren, Tony Oswald, Dean Oswald, Simon Linton and sweep Malcolm Rowson competing again in Open division finished on top to take out the Mens Open Short Course, but due to an unlucky (massive) dumping wave out the back, back shot and rolled into shore on the long course. No one was injured (check out the photos below).
The Women's Boat Crew of Tania Archibald, Annette Mayo, Megan Badcock, Maree Bicknell and Malcolm Rowson, chose not to compete in the huge dumping surf on both the Saturday and the Sunday.
Congrats to all our competitors and we wish you well for the Bay Champs coming up soon at Ohope, and of course the Nationals here in Ohope in March.
